SCEGA Gymnasts Qualify for National TOPs Testing in Texas
SCEGA is proud to announce that all seven of their 9 -11 year old TOPs gymnasts, have qualified to the National TOPs Testing hosted by USA Gymnastics at the Bela Karolyi National Training Center in Houston , Texas on September 25 – 27, 2009. TOPs is a Talented Opportunity Program for young gifted gymnasts from ages 9-11. Approximately 300 girls qualify to attend National Testing, out of 3,000 that test throughout the country in their respective states. SCEGA is well represented with two 9 year olds, two 10 year olds, and three 11 year olds. Their goal is to qualify and rank as one of the 100 gymnasts chosen for the National TOPs Team.

| TOPs Program Overview |

|
TOPs (Talent Opportunity Program), is a talent search and educational program for female gymnast ages 7-11 and their coaches. During the months of June and July gymnasts age 7-11 are evaluated on physical abilities at the state or regional level. These dates are set by your regional TOP manager in conjunction with your National Elite Program Chair. From there, athletes are invited to participate in the National TOP test that is conducted in the month of October where they will be evaluated on the same physical abilities tests along with some basic gymnastics skills. Athletes are then invited to participate in the National TOP Training camp which takes place in December of each year.
